Noelia is been recovering from the adverse reactions that leprosy has sometimes, like the inflammation of the faces’ spots. She is one of the youngest patients at the Hospital Dom Rodrigo of Salvador. If the person has no feeling in the spot, he or she should be directed to a treatment center for leprosy to confirm the diagnosis. Media campaigns in Brazil in recent years have attempted to raise awareness of leprosy and its symptoms among the general public in Brazil. MORHAN (the Movement for the Reintegration of people affected by Hansen's Disease), a non-governmental organization with offices in nearly every state of Brazil, organizes educational campaigns in schools and in the media designed to reduce stigma and to increase the potential for patients to diagnosis themselves and seek the appropriate treatment at a health post. MORHAN maintains a telephone line (Telehansen) to which people from all over Brazil can call with questions they have about leprosy. MORHAN has recruited celebrity volunteers, such as actress Solange Couto and singer Ney Matogrosso, and has worked with novela (Brazilian fixed duration soap opera) writer Glória Perez to incorporate the topic of leprosy into an episode of The Clone, a hugely popular novela which aired in 2001-2002.

During the day, the traffic is unbearable, the markets are full of people buying or selling anything, and people seem to coexist in harmony with other hostile world and submerged, but when the sun starts to hide, a curfew not imposed, but recommended, seized the city. The population fled to their homes, sound features, the few cars that do circulate at high speed, and security and public order are no longer guaranteed.

Mas Retina és una entitat formada per periodistes i fotògrafs/es que realitza projectes periodístics i audiovisuals amb enfocament de drets humans i d’educació per a la justícia global per a mitjans de comunicació, ONG’s i institucions. Hem treballat a Colòmbia, Brasil, Senegal, Marroc, Nicaragua, Haití, Filipines, Iraq, Líban, Argentina… Realitzem reportatges fotogràfics, vídeo documental, produïm exposicions, llibres, tallers educatius i organitzem tots els anys el Festival internacional de fotografia sobre drets humans i justícia global de Barcelona (BCNDH) que acull 12 exposicions de gran format a peu de carrer repartides per tota la ciutat, entorn de les quals es desenvolupen activitats educatives coordinades amb el teixit associatiu dels diferents districtes i treballem de forma conjunta amb entitats i associacions. Treballem de la mà amb entitats i associacions, ja sigui de forma col·laborativa o en propostes concretes i participem en diferents xarxes i espais de coordinació com Stop Mare Mortum, Bcn antirumors, Xarxa Educativa en suport a les persones refugiades i el Casal d’entitats Mas Guinardó.
