We are a multidisciplinary, open, and responsive team, whose character is reflected in both small daily tasks and our larger projects. We share the Foundation’s values and a deep passion for what we do, leveraging our individual talents and engaging with collaborators tailored to each project.
Sílvia Omedes (Barcelona, 1971) graduated from The New School for Social Research in New York. She is an independent curator, editor, photographers’ agent, and cultural manager based in Barcelona.
In 2001, she founded the Photographic Social Vision Foundation, dedicated to promoting documentary photography as a tool for raising social awareness. As its director, she has guided the Foundation through various stages of growth, establishing it as a key reference point for Spanish photography.
Sílvia began her career as an exhibition coordinator and curatorial assistant at the Guggenheim Museum in New York and at the Centre for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB). As a photo editor, she has contributed to numerous documentary publications for Blume Publishers. Since 2003, she has collaborated with the World Press Photo Foundation as an exhibition partner and nominator for the Joop Swart Masterclass. She has also been a tutor for World Press Photo Masterclasses in Europe and Latin America. In 2018, she was appointed Secretary of the Jury of the World Press Photo.
As a photographers’ agent and cultural manager, Silvia offers consulting services to both individual photographers and photographic collections, specializing in management strategies for professional development and the spread of historical photographic archives. Among the first important archives she represents there are the family archive of French photographer Jacques Léonard and the professional archive of Joana Biarnés, Spain’s first female photojournalist.
As a nominator of emerging talent, Silvia collaborates annually with the Albert Camus Incipiens Award and the Leica Oscar Barnack Award, and has served on numerous juries for the POY Latam, Luis Valtueña, FNAC Young Talent, Gabo, Luis Kasado, and Zampa awards. She was also part of the editorial team that created the digital photography archive documenting the effects of COVID-19 in Spain in 2021 and 2022.
Since 2014, she has been an active member of the expert advisory committee implementing the National Photography Plan for the Government of Catalonia, and since 2021, she has been part of the professional platform that supports and promotes the creation of a National Photography Center in Spain.
Anthropologist graduated in social sciences, with a master of research degree from the Université Lumière Lyon 2 in France. Her master’s research centered on the construction of the photographic image in the documentary genre. In 2006 she joined Photographic Social Vision, where she is currently in charge of the Education section and a member of the teaching team of the Punt de Vista workshops, an educational project created more than ten years ago to work with vulnerable social groups. She has been training as a Gestalt therapist since 2009 and currently practices in both individual and group formats at the Escola de l’Esser, while broadening her knowledge of psychopathology through the UNED.
Mireia has been collaborating with Photographic Social Vision since 2005 as a teacher and artistic coordinator of participatory photography workshops, and promotes projects in the area of Social Action.
She has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona (UB) and in Photography from the Institute of Photographic Studies of Catalonia (IEFC). Her doctoral thesis, “Photography and intimate narratives. From individual creation to shared creation”, explores the potential of photographic creation to make visible the intimate realities of people, often linked to painful, conflicting or silenced experiences. She has also completed the Master’s in Artistic Teacher Training from the UB, the Master’s in Art Therapy at IATBA and the Postgraduate Course in Body and Art by AlasBcn.
She is a professor and researcher at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the UB and co-directs the Postgraduate Course in Visual and Therapeutic Pedagogy of Image at Instituto 8 and the UB. He also teaches at CITEM at the UPC, at the Master’s in Artistic Mediation at the UB and at the Postgraduate Course in Body and Art at AlasBcn.
Her photographic work has been exhibited in several individual and collective exhibitions, including the Cidade da Cultura in Santiago de Compostela, the Venice Architecture Biennale, the Valid Foto Gallery in Barcelona and Roca Umbert, Fàbrica de les Arts.
Graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, she has always been interested in the cross-sectional aspect of the image, using photography early on as a vehicle for her work as an author. Develops this area through the Postgraduate Degree in Discourses of Contemporary Photography by the same faculty, under the guidance and mentoring of leading Portuguese authors.
Later on, dedicating her studies essentially to museography and exhibition production, with a special interest in the functional relations between space and the people who surround it, concludes her Master’s Degree in Museology at the FCSH of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, while doing an internship at Arts Santa Mònica in Barcelona as Assistant Exhibition Coordinator.
Worked as a theater and exhibition photographer and was a collaborator in several artistic projects in Portugal. At the moment continues developing some projects as author and curator. She has been part of the Photographic Social Vision Projects area since 2019.
Graduated in Arts and Design from the Escola Massana, she continued her training with different specialization courses of the Creation and Reflection Photography itinerary of the Institute of Photographic Studies of Catalonia. Her design studies and knowledge about the image encouraged her to focus her professional career towards the production and dissemination of projects in the field of photography and visual arts. She studied the Master’s Degree in Cultural Management at the University of Barcelona and did her internship at the Photographic Social Vision Foundation.
Among other experiences, she has collaborated with the Foto Colectania Foundation as a fellow in the area of exhibitions and activities and has been coordinator of the ArtsLibris artist book fairs in Barcelona, ARCOmadrid and ARCOlisboa in their 2022 edition.
In September 2022, she joined the Photographic Social Vision team again.
A graduate in Communications from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Marina first became a member of the foundation’s communications department after attending a course on exhibition design. She has since gone on to coordinate workshops, events, and exhibitions aimed at the development of documentary photographers.
More recently, she has specialised in the conservation and management of photographic archives, studying at l’Escola Superior d’Arxivística at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya. Currently, from the professional area of the foundation, she is involved in cataloging and disseminating the work of various photographers.
Architecture has been the way to understand her environment, and the tool to develop her visual capacity. After training in architecture schools between Barcelona and Milan, photography came into her life unexpectedly in one of the first jobs she found when she returned to Barcelona.
After twenty years working in photographic production, she studied at the Institute of Photographic Studies of Catalonia, and it was then that she put herself behind a camera.
Since 2015 she has been a researcher for the Joana Biarnés Archive from the Professional Area of the Photographic Social Vision Foundation. Her project “Journey to a file” recounts the personal experience of 5 years of work with Biarnés.
She is currently dedicated to research and divulgation of other photographic archives represented by the Foundation.
Graduated in history, manager of quality systems, postgraduate in development cooperation and extensive training related to the visual arts. He has combined different jobs related to his academic training with the management and cataloguing the work of different plastic artists, organization and curator of exhibitions, coordination of cultural publications and collaboration with entities related to cultural dissemination. She is the director of the Xavier Miserachs Biennial of Photography and manager of photographic collections.
Valeria is a documentary photographer and workshop leader specialized in cultural and social projects in complex environments. She carries out participatory photography workshops, especially aimed at people from groups that are stigmatized or at risk of exclusion.
Graduated in Journalism, Master in Strategy and Entrepreneurship, and Postgraduate in Documentary Photography, she has worked as a photojournalist in different media and collaborated with different organizations dedicated to the development of inclusive environments and the fight against social exclusion, especially with the immigrant population and children.
Passionate about culture, especially the arts that involve narration and image, he grew up surrounded by music in the family business, the Barcelona record store Surco, today the oldest in Catalonia.
He graduated in Journalism from the UAB and worked for two decades as a cultural journalist for numerous publications, specializing above all in film and music, and was also chief editor of Grupo Zeta and Grupo Godó magazines. It has also collaborated with festivals such as the Sitges film festival, the electronic music festival Sónar and the musical documentary In Edit Barcelona.
Simultaneously, he managed the communication of various events and artistic projects and dedicated five years to the communication and cultural programming area of the FNAC stores in Barcelona, plus another two years in the communication department of the Elisava university school of design. In 2018, he began collaborating with Photographic, assuming responsibility for the Foundation’s communication at the end of 2020.
In addition, he has studies and experience in scripting and audiovisual production. He has solo travelled through regions of Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, Peru, Costa Rica and both coasts of the US. His curiosity is insatiable, and writing is his preferred form of expression.
Graduated in Sociology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), she has always been sensitive to social causes. As a result of a deep concern to apply theory to practice, in 2014 she studied the Master in Social Policies and Community Mediation of the Institute of Government and Public Policy (IGOP), which allowed her to work on citizen participation projects of the Barcelona City Council. At that time, she came into contact with the associative movement in the city, to which she joined as a volunteer in communication and awareness campaigns.
She assumed a very active role in the creation of digital strategies and content in different organitzations, highlighting her transmedia narrative, and the Las Kellys project was the one that established a turning point. In 2018, she decided to become a professional in digital marketing and moved to Madrid to study the Master in Digital Marketing at Aula CM, carrying out her first jobs in small agencies and Third Sector organitzations.
Since her return to Barcelona, she has continued studying in order to be always updated and, at the beginning of 2022, she became part of the communication team of the Photographic Foundation.
Degree in Business Administration and Management and MBA from IESE – Business School. She has more than 20 years of experience in administrative and financial management and management control in several companies. She has been part of the Photographic Social Vision team since its inception as a board member and since 2017 she has been the Foundation’s Chief Financial Officer and Head of Administration.
Graduated in Design with mention in Visual Communication from Bau, Barcelona University Center for Arts and Design, a few years later she completed the Master of Motion Graphics at the same center.
She began her professional activity in design studios that worked for cultural institutions, such as the Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona, MACBA, Arts Santa Mònica… both in catalog design, spread and exhibition design. A few years later she began to work independently with institutions and artists. With the help of Inés Casals, she began to collaborate with the projects of the Photographic Social Vision Foundation and became passionate about photography. Since 2017 she has been the art director of the Foundation and responsible for the creative direction of projects such as World Press Photo Barcelona, DOCfield (Barcelona Documentary Photography Festival), Material Sensible or the Joana Biarnés Scholarship.
In addition, she works as a consultant for companies and entities helping brands to have their own imaginary and formal and conceptual coherence.
She combines her professional activity with teaching design at Bau, Barcelona University Center for Arts and Design, and at the Open University of Catalonia.
Graduated in Humanities and Journalism, she has been dedicated to cultural communication for more than twenty years, combining the design, planning and execution of press campaigns with the work of freelance editor for different publications.
Currently, she manages the press departments of music festivals such as Sónar; from art events such as Barcelona Gallery Weekend or Swab; galleries such as the legendary Sala Parés or the Chiquita Room artistic space, and photographic events such as the Bienal de Fotografía Xavier Miserachs, Panoràmic Festival or the World Press Photo exhibition in Barcelona, as well as exhibitions of Joana Biarnés, Jacques Léonard, Manuel Outomuro or Isabel Azkarate, thanks to collaborating with the Photographic Social Vision Foundation.
In addition, she collaborates with the Live Music Yearbook of the Association of Music Promoters and with the Music Yearbook of the Enderrock Group, she is a professor at the International Music Business School, and has published two books: Barcelona ètnica. Els millors restaurants de cuina exòtica (Ara Llibres), finalist of the Gourmand Cookbook Awards 2010, and Grandes Mujeres, el lado femenino de la historia (Editorial Oceano).

Vera Baena
Founder and SecretaryIt was her interest in personal development, especially that of children and of society’s most vulnerable groups, that motivated her involvement in the founding of Photographic Social Vision. Vera has had a multifaceted career as businesswoman, executive, and consultant: co-founder of Kukis-Fiesta, a leader in the production of decorated cookies in Spain, she has also been director of organization and development at Caprobo and consultant to the prestigious international human resources firm of Watson Wyatt. A lawyer with a specialization in business law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and an MBA from IESE Business School, she is currently finishing her degree in psychology. Her goal is to continue developing initiatives on behalf of the youngest and poorest members of our society. Born in Madrid, she lives in Barcelona with her husband and four children.
Leopoldo Blume
Member of the BoardGraduated with a degree in modern history from the Universidad Central de Barcelona. Director since 1989 of Editorial Blume, a publishing house founded over forty-five years ago which focuses on photojournalism, photography, and art, among other subjects. Its catalogue includes titles by numerous internationally renowned photographers, including Gervasio Sánchez, Sandra Balsells, Miquel Dewever-Plana, Andoni Canela, Rena Effendi, Karl de Keyser, Kim Manresa, Gideon Mendel, Richard Misrach, Susan Meiselas, Lana Slezic, and Pepe Navarro, in addition to many others. Leopoldo is a member of the Premio Europeo de Editores de Fotografía (EPAP) and has served on the juries of numerous photography awards in Spain.
Marcela Ospina
Member of the BoardDirector, consultant and professor with more than 20 years of experience in strategic communication, social impact and cultural transformation, in Europe and Latin America. VP of Sustainability and Culture at Both People & Comms, of the Newlink group. Director of the Master in Communication Management at EADA Business School. She was a member of the steering committee of Oxfam Intermón, where she directed communication and public engagement.
Graduated in Journalism (Javeriana University) with a Master’s degree in Political Science (Université Paris IX-Dauphine), she has also trained in Management and Leadership (Advanced Management Program, ESADE) and in Sustainability (Senior Management Program in Sustainability, EADA).
She is motivated by the challenge of creating work environments with a balance between the achievement of results, the well-being of people and responsibility with society and the environment. She enjoys photography, nature and a coffee in good company. Her purpose is to contribute to creating a fairer, greener and more inclusive world.
Susana Sors

Gerard Olivé
Member of the BoardEntrepreneur, publicist, and investor with a background in creating and developing projects in the digital, communications, and social impact sectors, operating in Europe and Latin America.
In 2012, he co-founded Antai Ventures, where he has fostered and supported the creation of numerous business ventures. His career has been recognized primarily in the fields of entrepreneurship and communications, including being named by IESE Business School as one of the twenty most influential entrepreneurs in Spain.
Committed to social and cultural impact initiatives, as a trustee of the Photographic Social Vision Foundation, he collaborates from a strategic and institutional support perspective, contributing his governance experience and long-term vision to reinforce the foundation’s mission of promoting documentary photography and photojournalism as essential tools for critical reflection and the construction of collective memory.

Roger Dedeu
Abogado especializado en Derecho de la CulturaRoger Dedeu es socio fundador y co-director de la oficina de abogados Gabeiras y asociados y presidente de la Fundación Gabeiras para el Derecho y la Cultura.
Con 32 años de experiencia en el ejercicio de la abogacía, Roger Dedeu asesora en el área de Derecho de la Cultura y es licenciado en Derecho por la Universidad de Barcelona-CEU Abat Oliva y cursó el Master en Corporate Finance de ESADE, además de un Curso de especialización en Derecho Mercantil Internacional del Colegio de Abogados de Barcelona.
Participa con regularidad en ponencias, conferencias y seminarios y es profesor en varios masters relacionados con la Cultura, como el de Gestión Cultural de la Universidad Carlos III y el de la Universidad de Navarra de Gestión Curatorial.
