Presents to the public the documentary photography collection of Banco Sabadell, curated by the Photographic Foundation.
The exhibition, Local Is Global. Banco Sabadell Art Collection – Documentary Photography, begins its first tour from August 2 to October 18, 2026, at La Bòbila in Palafrugell, as part of the XIV Xavier Miserachs Photography Biennial.
This same exhibition was originally presented from March 6 to May 17, 2026, at the Sabadell-Herrero Exhibition Hall in Oviedo (Asturias), organized by Banco Sabadell and the Photographic Social Vision Foundation, with the collaboration of the Gobierno del Principado de Asturias.

The Banco Sabadell documentary photography collection
The exhibition Local Is Global presents, for the first time, a selection of more than 50 photographs from the Banco Sabadell Art Collection – Documentary Photography, created in 2013 with the guidance of the Photographic Social Vision Foundation.
This collection began in 2013 and initially comprised national and international works, most of them previously unpublished, presented at the DOCfield Barcelona festival, which the Photographic Foundation organized until 2018 with the aim of recognizing the social value of photojournalism and documentary photography. Subsequently, the collection has been expanded with winning photographs from the prestigious annual World Press Photo competition and other sources.

Visual narratives that connect us to other realities
In a world increasingly saturated with all kinds of images, often unreliable, this Collection highlights the rigor and responsibility of documentary photographers. It also showcases the talent and skill with which they renew visual narratives, so essential for forging emotional and intellectual connections between the public and the realities they depict.
This exhibition invites us to cross borders, to recognize ourselves in others and inhabit their lives, to witness firsthand the complex journey we are undertaking as humanity, with the intention of stimulating our senses, enriching our understanding, and strengthening our critical thinking.
