Cartas a Mariví

Cartas a Mariví is an investigation into a generation marked by precarity and compelled to leave Spain’s peripheral regions in search of opportunities. A territory that is becoming increasingly depopulated, rarely spoken about, and whose industrial decline has accelerated its abandonment.

After travelling nearly 12,000 kilometres, the author documents a recurring pattern: factory closures, job losses and dependence on large corporations threaten the future of communities from Andalusia to Galicia.

Through the stories of those who leave and those who remain, Cartas a Mariví portrays the social consequences of deindustrialisation and gives voice to a generation that feels there is no longer any room to build a future in the places where they grew up.
