Josep Maria de Llobet
Josep Maria de Llobet was born in 1973 in Barcelona, the city where he lives. Graduated from the Law Faculty of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, he combined his university career with photography studies at the Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya (IEFC) where he now works as a professor. He has been part of the teaching team at the IDEP school and collaborates with the university by teaching photography workshops in several architecture schools, such as Barcelona, Girona or the IASAP-BV program at the University of Illinois.
His work is part of public and private collections, including the Banc Sabadell Art Collection, the National Photography Collection of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Library of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. His work aims to generate documents using tools typical of artistic language, which help him reflect on social reality from a contemporary perspective.
Its field of action is the urban territory and it uses the photographic image as material for visual reconstruction of its environment. He has carried out photographic installations in emblematic spaces such as the Modelo jail in Barcelona, and exhibited at festivals such as DOCfield or Revela-T and in galleries in Spain and France. He has published in national and international media and has participated as a jury in various photography contests. He has been invited as a speaker at conferences and festivals. His beginnings as a professional photographer are linked to advertising, although his interest in architectural space and urban territory has led him to collaborate more and more frequently with architecture and urban planning studios, museums and public and private institutions.
He is also co-founder and editor of the independent publishing house specializing in photobooks Ediciones Posibles.
