Marc Vidal

Marc Vidal Aparicio (Barcelona, ​​1968) is a professional photographer and cultural manager, with a consolidated career in the field of author photography and cultural spread. Graduated in Geography and History, with a specialization in History of Art from the University of Barcelona, ​​he trained in photography at the Institute of Photographic Studies of Catalonia, where he completed his studies between 1994 and 1997.

In 1997, after a period of work in various photographic studios in Barcelona, ​​he founded the studio La Fotogràfica with Marta Fàbregas. This experience consolidated his career as a photographer, combining artistic practice with the management of photographic projects.

Since 2017, he has worked as a collections photographer at the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC), where he is dedicated to the photographic reproduction of the museum’s collections. In parallel, since 2018, he has co-directed the LUMÍNIC Festival in Sant Cugat del Vallès, an event that promotes author photography through exhibitions and cultural activities. Recently, since February 2024, he has assumed the direction of the 39/11 Novembre Fotogràfic festival of Fotoconnexió, thus consolidating his involvement in the revitalization of the photographic sector in Barcelona.

In terms of curatorship, in 2024 he curated the exhibition “Ferran Freixa. La poètica de l’espai” (Ferran Freixa. The poetics of space) at the Galeria Artur Ramon, in collaboration with Photographic Social Vision.

His personal work has been exhibited many tomes, highlighting projects such as “Trobades en una cadira” (Encounters in a Chair), made jointly with Marta Fàbregas, and “Crònica desordenada d’un fotògraf de museu” (Messy chronicle of a museum photographer), where he explores the intimate dimension of photography and its relationship with space and heritage.
