Judith Prat

Judith Prat, a law graduate and specialized in human rights and fundamental freedoms, decided to be a professional photographer. In recent years she has worked as a documentary photographer in Latin America, the Middle East and Africa documenting issues related to human rights, paying special attention to the situation of women.

In his latest projects she delves into the research processes prior to the photographic event and explores visual narratives capable of generating a relationship between images and critical thinking, since she considers that it is then when photography has the capacity to transform people.

In 2023 she received the Image award from the Sociedad Geográfica Española, in 2021 the silver Sabina for her professional career and in 2017 the Premio Artes & Letras Award for Photography. She has been selected for the New York Times Portfolio Review and has received the Leonardo Scholarship for research in communication from the BBVA Foundation and the Albarracín Photography Seminar Scholarship. Her works have been awarded and recognized at international festivals and awards such as the Prix de la Photographie Paris, the Julia Margaret Cameron Award in UK, the Photofest Award in Mexico, or the International Photography Awards in USA. She has been nominated for the Gabriel García Márquez Awards or the 6×6 WorldPress Photo program. Her images have been exhibited in Spain at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Círculo de Bellas Artes or in PhotoESPAÑA, in cities around the world and at events as relevant as the World Social Forum in 2021. She publishes in media such as The New York Times, Al Jazeera or The Guardian.
