Axel Miranda
Axel Miranda (Barcelona, 1998) is a photojournalist and documentary photographer specialized in migration, humanitarian crises and human rights.
He studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona and completed the postgraduate program in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at the Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya. He has collaborated with media outlets such as La Directa, Diari de Barcelona and Valencia Plaza, among others, as well as with the international agency SOPA Images. He is a member of the RUIDO Photo collective.
His work has been recognized in awards such as MiraVisions, the Transhumant Award and the Diomira Award. He was the recipient of a grant from the European project Are We Europe and the winner of the VII Joana Biarnés Grant from Photographic Social Vision with the project Bagong Bayani, which analyzes the post-colonial relationship between Spain and the Philippines through the identity construction of the Filipino diaspora based on women linked to domestic work.
