Lucía Gracey

Lucía Gracey (Argentina, 1992) is a skilled professional who graduated in History from the University of Buenos Aires and currently works as a professor, photographer, and writer. She conceives of writing and photography as interconnected languages for communicating diverse perspectives, actively seeking to contribute to social and collective change through visual anthropology. Her approach challenges the Eurocentric and colonial vision, considering photography as a tool for listening and observation that invites questioning the established and exploring alternative ways of life.

Her photography training took place at UNSAM (Argentina) and IEFC (Spain), complementing her extensive travels across various continents, during which she wrote chronicles and published on blogs. Before settling in Spain, she resided in Mexico, Brazil, China, the Netherlands, and Italy, developing a deep interest in cultural diversity, community identities, and societies that offer alternatives to capitalism and the Western world, topics she seeks to understand and disseminate through her work.

She has published in Latin American digital media such as Amor al Caos, La Izquierda Diario and Huellas de la Historia. She also has exhibited her photographic work in Spain, France, and Italy, being a finalist for renowned grants and winning the award for best photo reportage at the Transhumant Festival 2024. In May 2025, she will publish her first book “Un año nuevo chino” (Distrito 93 ed.), a hybrid novel between chronicle and autofiction. She currently resides in Barcelona, where she teaches creative writing workshops and works as a freelance photographer.
